Simon's Death

I think Simon's death had a lot of importance to the book. In the moment before and when her died, the true essence of the people finally came out. Everything that had been building up had been realized. The boys had lost yet another tie to humanity by killing one of their friends. Not to mention the symbolism of the literal Lord of the Flies.

Simon's death was my least favorite just because of how drawn out it was. Dragging it on though tapered the book into the end, so that readers could see how they were falling apart. It showed how everyone was willing to play the island's game no matter how taxing it was on themselves or their final tie to humanity.
