Some say wallowing in one emotion, but as the great Brendon Urie says, "Being sad is better than being over it." I mean, it's all circumstantial. Some writes sit themselves in one sort of mood for the majority of their career. Edgar Allen Poe made a name for himself by filling his writing with macabre and morbid themes.
So I suppose that there can be too much of one thing or emotion. However, stewing inside one emotion may not be such a bad thing. It may allow for reflection and it the experience is not positive maybe some thoughtful down time is helpful. Being overly critical of oneself and situations (not to be cynical) can have major downsides and is not part of my point. I just think that pondering over a decision isn't always a bad thing. In a world that moves so fast- slowing down could benefit us more than we think.
I agree that thinking things over is a good thing. As long as you don't let yourself become too engulfed in emotions, I think it's worth it to think through things.
